The traditional sentiments of the UK diamond jewellery market continue into the winter season with the middle-to-upper consumer markets still showing a preference for round and square shaped diamonds in the 0.70-1.20 carat size range. Although demand for colourless (D-F colour) clean diamonds (IF-VS2 clarity) remains strong, the best value for money is found in the G-H colour and SI1-SI2 clarity ranges.
A strong emerging trend within the UK diamond jewellery market is the use of natural fancy colour diamonds. This comes on the back of a strong presence of fancy coloured diamonds across the catwalks of the premier jewellery and fashion shows over the last six to twelve months.
